New plants get a week of attention. What is in front of you is a plant in its first week in the ground.

Do it in order

Handle it this way: water the root ball and leave the fertilizer in the shed. Wash the tool when you move to the next plant.

The usual miss

People lose cuttings and seedlings to a dose of feed on planting day. Slow down there.

Finished means the root ball is moist and the leaves are not burned. If you are guessing, water less than you want to and look again tomorrow.

This sits in "Soil and water", written as a garden note rather than a catalog.

A garden note, not a promise that a plant will thrive. Look again in a week.
